CSU Posters: Requirements & Procedures
Poster REQUIREMENTS
Information that must be included for posting approval in the Centennial Student Union and Academic Buildings:
- Date, Time and Location for Events
- Name of the sponsoring RSO or Department
- Two Required Logos (Click HERE to access downloadable logos).
- Minnesota State University, Mankato
- Minnesota State System
- Follow Logo Placement & Color Standards (University Branding Standards)
- One Required Americans with Disabilities Act Statement (See REQUIRED STATEMENTS below).
PREFERRED POSTER DESIGN: The official Minnesota State University, Mankato logo in a horizontal format should appear across the top of the poster. The Minnesota State System logo and the required Americans with Disabilities Act Statement should appear in the bottom border area of the poster.
ACCEPTED POSTERS
Only posters announcing events and programs sponsored by Minnesota State Mankato Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) or Departments will be approved for posting on Centennial Student Union and Academic Building bulletin boards. Posters not meeting that criteria will only be permitted to be posted on a community bulletin board located in the CSU.
No table tents or leave-behind posters, flyers, business cards or other promotional materials are permitted in the Centennial Student Union. Such materials will be removed and discarded.
ACCEPTED Poster SizeS:
- 8.5" x 11"
- 11" x 17"
- Posters not meeting these size requirements will not be accepted for bulletin board approval/display. Displaying posters larger than 11" x 17" in the Centennial Student Union will require reserving a poster stand from University Scheduling and Conference Services (CSU219). The largest size poster allowed in the CSU is 22" x 28". A-frame displays (24" x 36") are not permitted in the CSU.
PROCEDURE
All materials posted or displayed on general use bulletin boards at Minnesota State Mankato in the Centennial Student Union and in academic buildings must receive approval from the Centennial Student Union administration office located in CSU 220 (note: all materials posted or displayed in the Residence Halls must be approved by the Department of Residential Life located in Carkoski Commons 111).
- Posters may be dropped off in CSU 220 to be approved and stamped between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Materials shall be date-stamped to signify approval for posting.
- Posters approved for the CSU Bulletin Boards may only be posted by CSU Staff. Postings will be displayed on the CSU's seven Bulletin Boards.
- Posters approved for the CSU will be posted by staff approximately a week before the event, subject to space constraints.
- Unapproved posters and posters outside of designated areas in the CSU will be removed and discarded.
- Posters approved for Academic Boards will be posted by the RSO or Department. Postings in academic buildings can only be added to bulletin boards marked GENERAL USE.
- The CSU shall not be held responsible or accountable for the theft or vandalism of any materials displayed.
- All materials to be posted or displayed on the CSU Boards or General Use Boards in academic buildings should be academically-related and sponsored by a Department or a Recognized Student Organization (RSO).

Formatting Required Statements:
- The type must be set in Futura or Arial, regular or bold only (no light versions).
- The type size must be no less than 6 point.
- Use 100 percent solid color in high contrast to any background color present; do not use screens or a percentage of a color. Avoid low contrast colors like black on purple or white on gold.
