Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Music & Entertainment Industries News Release

MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota State University, Mankato's Concert Wind Ensemble will perform Dan Brown’s Wild Symphony on Thursday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave. The Concert Wind Ensemble is directed by Amy Roisum Foley, director of bands at the University.

New York Times bestselling author Dan Brown, author of "The Da Vinci Code," made his picture book debut with Wild Symphony, a mindful, humorous, musical, and uniquely entertaining book. Brown is also a professionally trained pianist and music composer. He composed the engaging musical score to accompany the delightful illustrations from Brown’s debut children’s picture book.

Travel through the trees and across the seas with Maestro Mouse and his musical friends. You’ll meet a big blue whale and speedy cheetahs, tiny beetles and graceful swans. Each has a special secret to share in this musical adventure through the animal kingdom.

While the Concert Wind Ensemble performs the score, and with projected illustrations from the children's book, follow the musical adventures in the animal kingdom from the rhythmic beats of “Bouncing Kangaroo” to the melodies of “Wondrous Whale” accompanied by poetry narrated by music faculty members Michael Olson and Stephanie Thorpe.

Minnesota State Mankato students are admitted free with a valid MavCARD. General admission is $9 and $7 for students (K-12) and children. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to https://link.mnsu.edu/musictickets or call Dale Haefner in the Performance Series office, (507) 389-5549.
