MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences will present a panel discussion centering on women in the arts on Friday, April 7 at 9:30 a.m. in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.
The panel is part of the Minnesota Storyteller series supported by the Nadine B. Andreas Endowment fund. The panelists will discuss why they chose to be an artist and their thoughts related to stereotypes and challenges of being a woman creative in the arts.
Ann Fee, director of the St. Peter Arts Center, writer and musician, will moderate the panel consisting of singer, rapper and writer Dessa; Dana Sikila, director of the 410 Project, a volunteer-managed community art space and Minnesota State Mankato adjunct art professor; and music industry graduate Jada LaFrance, owner, UPSTAGE LLC, Protégé Talent LLC team member and studio engineer at Wild Sound Studios in Minneapolis.
The panel discussion is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in Lot 16 Gold with a temporary parking permit.
