Aug. 12: Minnesota State Mankato Faculty to Showcase Unique Farming Method Involving Perennial Cover Crops, Turkeys

Mankato, Minn. – Faculty from Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Biological Sciences and Water Resources Center will discuss a unique farming method involving perennial cover crops and turkeys in free public presentations Monday, Aug. 12 from 5-8 p.m. at Blue Dirt Farms near Blue Earth, Minnesota.
The presentations will be held at the corner of 400th Avenue and 60th Street, 4 miles south of Blue Earth, and attendees will learn about recent research through the following activities:
- Study site demonstration
- Turkey integration plot demonstration
- Soil respiration tests (microbial activity)
- SLAKE tests using a phone app
- Weed management presentation
- Rainfall simulator
The event includes a free meal provided by the Amboy Cottage Café.
