Minnesota State Mankato to Celebrate International Education Week Nov. 14-19
Week begins Sunday with International Festival
Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato is celebrating International Education Week from Nov. 14-19.
The week opens with the Mankato Area International Festival on Sunday, Nov. 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Centennial Student Union. The International Festival is open to the public and features food, music, dance and cultures from around the world. The festival and weekly activities are sponsored by Minnesota State Mankato’s three Centers in Global Education: The Center for Global Engagement, Kearney International Center and the Center for English Language Programs.
Beginning Monday, a series of International Education Week events have been scheduled to celebrate cultures and promote academic exchange programs around the world. The events include:
- Monday, Nov. 15: “Connecting through Conversations,” 12 p.m., Ostrander Auditorium
- Tuesday, Nov. 16
- “First-Gen Students Abroad,” 12-1 p.m., Morris Hall 012
- “Cross-Cultural Communication Panel,” 3:30-5 p.m., Heritage Room, CSU 101
- Wednesday, Nov. 17: “Language and Culture Event,” 3 p.m. on Zoom ID: 984 5133 1660
- Thursday, Nov. 18: “International Poetry Recital,” 2-4 p.m., Ostrander Auditorium
- Friday, Nov. 19:
- “International Game Time,” 5-7 p.m., Hearth Lounge
- “International Maverick Story Hour,” 7-9 p.m., Ostrander Auditorium

According to its website, International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department and the U.S. Department of Education is part of efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences.
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 14,546 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which includes 30 colleges and seven universities.
