Minnesota State Mankato, Rochester Community and Technical College Announce Aviation Program Articulation Agreement
Agreement provides students a seamless transfer between programs.

Rochester, Minn. – Rochester Community and Technical College and Minnesota State University, Mankato jointly announced today that they have finalized an articulation agreement which will enable a seamless transition for aviation students to complete a bachelor’s degree at Minnesota State Mankato after completing their associate degree at RCTC.
The agreement specifies admission and graduation requirements of each institution’s program as well as course and credit requirements in each of the two programs. RCTC offers an associate in applied science degree, and Minnesota State Mankato graduates earn a bachelor of science degree.
Rochester Community and Technical College President Jeffery Boyd, Ed.D., and Minnesota State Mankato President Richard Davenport, Ph.D., announced the agreement today. A 2:30 p.m. announcement ceremony was held at the RCTC Aviation Training Center located at the Rochester International Airport in Rochester, Minnesota.
“Rochester Community and Technical College is excited to be partnering with Minnesota State Mankato to offer students interested in the Aviation Pilot program a clear path to success,” said President Boyd. “RCTC has gotten off to a great start with the first class starting last fall and the continuing support of our community and industry partners. Partnering with Minnesota State Mankato’s Aviation Program will benefit our students, communities and the aviation industry.”

Rochester Community and Technical College’s Aviation Pilot Program is designed to educate students who plan a career as a pilot in commercial aviation. The Associate in Applied Science in Aviation Pilot program provides students with the technical knowledge and skills to prepare them for the required Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) written and practical examinations for Commercial Pilot Certificate with Single Engine Airplane Land Rating; Instrument Rating; and the Flight Instructor Single Engine Airplane Certificate with Single Engine Airplane Land Rating for initial employment as aircraft pilots in a variety of entry-level, flight-related occupations. Completion of this program is the initial step in becoming a commercial airline pilot and will prepare students for transfer for completion of a bachelor’s degree.
Minnesota State Mankato’s Aviation Program, the only four-year, accredited program in the Minnesota State System, is part of the University’s College of Education.
Minnesota State Mankato’s B.S. Aviation graduates offer an exceptional value to airlines. Training at Minnesota State Mankato is conducted under exacting FAA Part 141 standards using a proprietary syllabus designed to emphasize automation, multiengine and real-world operations. Students average 20 hours of training in the program’s FAA certified simulator, experiencing average flight conditions as well as emergency situations.
