Minnesota State Mankato’s KMSU Radio Celebrating 60-Year Anniversary during Saturday Listener Appreciation Party

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s campus radio station, KMSU, will celebrate its 60th year of broadcasting with a listener appreciation party Saturday, June 17 from 7-10 p.m. at the Circle Inn Bar (232 Belgrade Ave., North Mankato, Minnesota).
The event is open to the public and will feature live music by Joe Tougas and Associates. Current and former KMSU staff and DJs will be in attendance, and a display table will be decorated with KMSU memorabilia.
In addition to celebrating its 60-year anniversary, KMSU will also be celebrating its recently concluded spring pledge drive, which raised more than $51,000, marking the second-largest spring pledge drive in station history.
Other 2023 KMSU highlights include the launch of a streaming app in January, and the launch of the Minnesota Musical Channel in April. Later this summer, KMSU will begin transmitting its programming to listeners through a hybrid digital signal.
KMSU, which can be found at 89.7 on the FM dial, is a volunteer-run, listener-supported free form radio station that began broadcasting on Jan. 7, 1963.
KMSU has a 20,000-watt signal that reaches throughout southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, and it can be heard worldwide via the internet and streaming services. The core of the KMSU weekly show schedule is produced by community and student volunteers.
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 14,482 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which includes 26 colleges and seven universities.
