Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Performing Arts News Release
MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Performing Arts will feature Mary Gauthier in concert with special guest Jaime Harris Monday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Avenue.
Gauthier is a singer-songwriter who often tackles self-exploration with her music. Gauthier has earned a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album, as well as a nomination for Album of the Year by Americana Music Association. She has worked with Jimmy Buffett, Dolly Parton, Boy George, Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw. Gauthier’s songs have also appeared in film and television, most recently on HBO TV’s “Yellowstone.”
Harris, a folk Americana singer-songwriter from Texas, performs a short set and then joins Gauthier on the Halling Recital Stage. Harris leans into country-folk in her songwriting whilst reflecting on what fragile ties bind us together as Americans. Influenced early on by Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, and Buddy and Julie Miller, Harris’s songs portray a wisdom that only comes from hard earned lessons.
General admission for the concert is $15. Minnesota State Mankato students will be admitted free with a valid MavCARD.
