MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato's Department of Music & Entertainment Industries will present blues/rock quartet The Scottie Miller Band 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 in Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.

The Scottie Miller Band is a combination of blues, soul, funk and jazz. Miller is recognized for his high-energy performances, creative song writing, dramatic lyrics and extraordinary piano playing. Scottie Miller is an inductee in the Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame for his contributions to blues music and heritage. He has also been the touring keyboardist for three-time Grammy nominated singer Ruthie Foster since 2008. He is featured on her Blues Music Award winning CD “Live At Antones.”

The Scottie Miller Band features sterling silver vocals, passionate lyrics, a funky rhythm section featuring a massive wall of drums and funky bass, surrounded by powerful electric guitar work.

Scottie Miller says, “My songs are inspired by life and everything that life throws at you. I write about relationships, peace, war, love, loss, addiction, heroism, family values, and the mystery of dreams.”

General admission for the concert is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Minnesota State Mankato students are admitted free with a valid MavCARD.
