Minnesota State Mankato Campus Groups, Community to Celebrate Earth Month in April
Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Maverick Adventures and more than 20 campus and community groups are holding events throughout the month of April to highlight Earth Month.
Many events are free and open to the public. The events are being held to promote sustainability, equity, education and wellness in the outdoors.
Event highlights from the month-long schedule include:
- Friday, April 12 – Indigenous Astronomy at Jeffers Petroglyphs in Comfrey, Minnesota
- Saturday, April 13 – Astronomy Open House
- Monday, April 15 – Film screening: “Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time”
- Wednesday, April 17 – Presentation: “Striving for Change: Biodiversity, Regeneration & Rethinking”
- Thursday, April 25 – Ethics and Animals: A discussion with Peter Singer
Other events include volunteer opportunities, field trips, wellness classes, discussions and more.

The Earth Month celebration has expanded from a week of programs to a full-month schedule this year. Maverick Adventures is coordinating the effort for the third year in a row.
