Minnesota State Mankato to Hold Oct. 7 Launch Event for School of Applied Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources

Event includes announcement with South Central College on new degree program

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato will announce the launch of its School of Applied Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources on Monday, Oct. 7 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the University’s Centennial Student Union (rooms 253/4/5).

Minnesota State Mankato and South Central College will also announce a new 2+2 articulation agreement for students transferring from the college with an Associate of Applied Science in Agribusiness degree to the university’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Agronomy degree program.

Note to editors: The event is not open to the general public, but members of the media are encouraged to attend. Free parking is available in the visitors lot (enter on Ellis Avenue) across from Centennial Student Union.

A short event program will include the following speakers, who will be available for media interviews after the program:

  • Edward Inch, president, Minnesota State Mankato
  • David Hood, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, Minnesota State Mankato
  • Aaron Budge, interim executive director, School of Applied Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, Minnesota State Mankato
  • Annette Parker, president, South Central College
  • Amy Durand, dean of agriculture, South Central College

The Minnesota State Mankato and South Central College leaders will discuss how the new school and degree program will impact communities and the agricultural and food industries in southern Minnesota and beyond.

Minnesota State Mankato and South Central College are part of the Minnesota State system, which includes 26 colleges and seven universities.
