Northwestern Mutual Makes 5-Year Sponsorship Commitment to College of Business, Intercollegiate Athletics
Agreement includes a $20,000 pledge each year for the next five years.
Mankato, Minn. – Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, LLC recently announced a $100,000 sponsorship agreement with Minnesota State University, Mankato’s College of Business and the University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
The sponsorship agreement includes a $20,000 pledge from Northwestern Mutual each year over the next five years.
Each year, $10,000 of the sponsorship will be designated for the financial planning program in Minnesota State Mankato’s College of Business, and $10,000 will be designated for the University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Brenda Flannery, dean of Minnesota State Mankato’s College of Business, said the Northwestern Mutual sponsorship would provide significant growth opportunities for the University’s financial planning program.
“We are grateful for Northwestern Mutual’s recent sponsorship, especially for our financial planning program,” said Flannery. “Each year Northwestern Mutual offers a significant number of internship opportunities helping our students learn more about the industry and find their path as young professionals. This sponsorship will be important as our new director of financial planning, Dan Hiebert, grows the program with even more graduates ready to launch their careers in financial services.”
Kevin Buisman, director of athletics at the University, expressed his appreciation to Northwestern Mutual for its commitment to Maverick Athletics.
“We are profoundly appreciative of the opportunity to build upon our past relationship and to expand upon an already fabulous partnership between Northwestern Mutual and Maverick Athletics,” said Buisman. “Our collaboration over the years has created some outstanding personal growth and development opportunities for our coaches and student-athletes. At the same time, some of the attributes we hope to instill in our student-athletes such as character, work ethic, commitment, loyalty, and teamwork align closely with the characteristics Northwestern Mutual is seeking for its future leaders in the workplace. This creates a strong synergy that is mutually beneficial to both organizations and we are enthused about taking these initiatives to the next level as we continue moving forward.”
Colby Staloch, managing director of Northwestern Mutual-Mankato, said the partnership reflects the strong relationship between Northwestern Mutual and Minnesota State Mankato.
“This partnership has meant a lot to our organization,” said Staloch. “We have a strong track record of Minnesota State University, Mankato students and graduates in our internship program and full-time careers, impacting thousands of clients. This is a result of strong relationships built over time with professors, coaches and administration. We started working with Minnesota State Mankato on campus on a smaller scale about 10 years ago, and it has evolved to Northwestern Mutual being the head sponsor of the CFP competition and lead sponsor of athletic events with the athletic program. We are excited for what the future holds.”
