Minnesota State Mankato’s Nov. 1 History Department Fall Forum to Examine Historical Perspective of Policing in Minneapolis

History Fall Forum 2022 posterMankato, Minn. – Two guest lecturers will provide their historical perspectives on policing in Minneapolis during a History Department Fall Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 1 from 7-8:30 p.m. in Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Ostrander Auditorium, located in the University’s Centennial Student Union.

The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the presentation.

The presentation, by faculty members Yohuru Williams from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Michael Lansing from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, is titled “Overpoliced and Underprotected in Minneapolis: Historical Perspectives.”

Williams is the founding director of the Racial Justice Initiative at the University of St. Thomas. News links highlight Lansing’s insight on racial injustice in Minneapolis from a historical perspective.
