Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Performing Arts News Release

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato's Department of Performing Arts hosts singer-songwriter Erik Koskinen on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Hooligans, 1400 East Madison Avenue (Madison East Center), Mankato. Regional favorites City Mouse will open the show with a set starting at 7 p.m.

The concert event, titled “The Harvest Ball,“  is an annual event presented by the Minnesota State Mankato Performance Series.

Since moving to Minneapolis 20 years ago, Koskinen has amassed a following as a musician, songwriter, producer and engineer. Koskinen has the ability to create a song and a sound that feels natural, intimate and exciting all at the same time.

American Roots (United Kingdom) writes, “Erik is very much his own man stylistically. Sub genres are no use at all in describing Erik's music and perhaps a new genre is more appropriate.” Jon Bream of the Minneapolis Star Tribune calls Erik Koskinen “…the state’s best pure country singer/songwriter.”

The supporting act, City Mouse, performs folk-rock blues styled music and has been appreciated in the region for over 50 years. The group remains strong today as the current band lineup has enjoyed 37 plus years of performing together.

City Mouse has played thousands of gigs and was an annual staple at Mankato’s People’s Fair and the Rockin’ in the Quarry event each summer. City Mouse performs annually and remains a fan favorite at the Rock Bend Folk Festival in St. Peter.

Concert admission is $15 in advance, $20 day of show. Tickets are available at Hooligans (507-625-9904) or online at hss.mnsu.edu/music-events. For more information about this event, call the Performance Series office, (507) 389-5549.
