Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of Geography is holding a fall 2020 Geography Colloquium that features events from 3-4:15 p.m. each Friday during the fall. The events are available online on Zoom and are open and free to all.

The geography colloquium, the longest-running speaker series at the University, began Sept. 18 and will run each Friday (except Nov. 27) through Dec. 4.

This week’s geography colloquium subject is “Geographic Observations Regarding Genetically Engineered Crops (GMOs),” which will be presented Friday, Oct. 23 from 3-4:15 p.m. by Paul Vincelli, extension professor in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky, and Jefferson Science Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences.

Friday’s event is available on Zoom: https://minnstate.zoom.us/j/99070205470. The passcode is 518731.

This presentation will explore some fundamental aspects of GMO crops: "Are they safe to eat, for example?",  according to an event preview. Vincelli will then focus geographical observations and geographic dimensions of GMO crops.
