Nov. 13: Geography Colloquium Hosting Expert on Countering Violent Extremism

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of Geography is holding a fall 2020 Geography Colloquium that features events from 3-4:15 p.m. each Friday during the fall. The events are available online on Zoom and are open and free to all.

The geography colloquium, the longest-running speaker series at the University, began Sept. 18 and will run each Friday (except Nov. 27) through Dec. 4.

This week’s geography colloquium subject is “Mapping Violent Extremism: Challenges and Next Steps,” which will be presented Friday, Nov. 13 from 3-4:15 p.m. by Royce Hutson, associate professor of social work at Boise State University and National Academy of Sciences Jefferson Science Fellow.

Hutson’s research focuses on measuring the health and mental health impacts of natural disaster and armed conflict.
