Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre and Dance News Release
MANKATO – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Theatre & Dance continues the 2023-2024 Theatre Season with “Lombardi” in the Andreas Theatre at the Early Center for the Performing Arts.
Based on the true story of the legendary coach, this show takes you behind the scenes of the Green Bay Packers and the man who led them to greatness. Hall of Fame football coach Vince Lombardi is unquestionably one of the most inspirational and quotable personalities of all time. Though the NFL’s Super Bowl trophy is named for him, few know the real story of Lombardi the man—his inspirations, his passions and ability to drive people to achieve what they never thought possible.
Second-year MFA Directing candidate, Hans Bloedel, who is directing this show, acknowledges the fraught relationship that some Minnesotans have with the Packers. However, Bloedel highlights the history and community surrounding the Green Bay Packers and encourages long-time theatre goers along with curious sports fans to come experience the legacy that is Lombardi.
“Lombardi” runs Nov. 15-18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Andreas Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State University, Mankato. Tickets are $10 regular, $9 for seniors ages 65 and older and children under 16; and $5 for Minnesota State Mankato students.
The box office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available online at MSUTheatre.com or over the phone at 507-389-6661.
