MANKATO, Minn. – Inspired by National Hunger Awareness week (Nov. 18-23, 2024), students in Dale Haefner’s music management and concert production class at Minnesota State University, Mankato are sponsoring a food donation drive at Hooligans, 1400 E. Madison Ave. (Madison East Center).
The event, Can Jam 2024, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 7-9:30 p.m. Donations of non-perishable food items will support the Maverick Food Pantry at Minnesota State Mankato.
Individuals donating non-perishable food items will receive raffle tickets for their food donations. Raffle drawings will take place throughout the evening, and raffle winners must be present to win. Raffle prizes will be donated by generous businesses and individuals in the Mankato area. A grand prize drawing will take place at 9:15 p.m.
Haefner said: “This capstone class project provides the students in the class the opportunity to learn many valuable life and workplace skills. The concert production class will present a fun night of music, food, and charity. It is important to give back to the community and to positively impact people’s lives, and to benefit Minnesota State Mankato students who are experiencing food insecurity.”
Musical entertainment will be provided throughout the evening by Department of Performing Arts music students and local musicians.
The Can Jam 2024 event is free and open to the public. All ages are encouraged to attend. Attendees are urged, but not required, to donate food items in support of the Maverick Food Pantry at Minnesota State Mankato.
