MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State University, Mankato Invitational Choral Festival will be held Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, located at 632 S. Broad St. in Mankato.

The University's concert choir and chamber singers, under the direction of Elisabeth Cherland, will perform. Participant schools Thomas Jefferson High School, Bloomington, and Blue Earth Area High School will perform. Individual choral students from the region have been invited to attend the festival and perform as well. The festival provides top-quality performing and listening experiences for the high school choir students.

During the festival day, the combined voices of the high school choirs, along with the University concert choir, create a large festival choir which works with Cherland on two performance pieces. The choirs will also work with University faculty on repertoire that they have prepared for the day.

The festival concludes with a concert that will feature each individual choir, high school student soloists, the University concert choir, chamber singers and the festival massed choir.

Minnesota State Mankato students are admitted free with a valid MavCARD. General admission is $9 and $7 for students (K-12) and children. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to hss.mnsu.edu/music-events or call the Performance Series office, (507) 389-5549.
