Oct. 30: Minnesota State Mankato Hosting Expert on Himalayan Melting Glaciers

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of Geography is holding a fall 2020 Geography Colloquium that features events from 3-4:15 p.m. each Friday during the fall. The events are available online on Zoom and are open and free to all.
The geography colloquium, the longest-running speaker series at the University, began Sept. 18 and will run each Friday (except Nov. 27) through Dec. 4.
This week’s geography colloquium subject is “Notes from the Field: Some Recent Geologic and Climate Change Impacts on Nepal’s Glaciers” which will be presented Friday, Oct. 30 from 3-4:15 p.m. by Alton C. Byers, senior research associate and faculty at Institute of Arctic Alpine Research.

This presentation will review the results of recent research regarding the impacts of three geologic and climate change-related events upon Nepal’s glaciers and glaciers lakes.
