April 9: Minnesota State Mankato’s Rec N’ Read Program Holding Free Open House for Children in Grades K-5

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Rec N’ Read program is hosting an open house for children in grades K-5 and their families Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m. – noon in the University’s Clinical Sciences Building (150 South Road).

The free event will feature games and activities, a book giveaway and an opportunity to learn about Rec N’ Read’s after-school programs and summer camps.

The Clinical Sciences Building is north of the Taylor Center and east of Ford Hall. Parking is free.

Rec N’ Read offers both after-school programs and summer recreation and literacy camps to help struggling readers in grades K-5. Children, who are assigned to work with University students who implement individualized attention under the supervision of expert faculty, engage in literacy interventions with fun recreation activities in a group setting.

Rec N’ Read is a collaboration between the University’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services and the Communication Sciences and Disorders program, which are part of the University’s College of Allied Health and Nursing.
