Undergraduate Programs
Description
Students in the Intensive English Program receive conditional admission to the University as a pathway to regular admission with the opportunity to develop their academic, social, and intercultural communication skills in English. The Intensive English Program offers a variety of courses from beginning to advanced levels that focus on reading skills, vocabulary development, writing, grammar, listening and note-taking skills, and speaking and oral presentation skills. Students in the beginning, low-intermediate, and high-intermediate levels take five Intensive English Program courses for a total of 20 hours per week. Students in the advanced level take four Intensive English Program courses and have the option of taking four credits in general education courses that will count towards their undergraduate degree.

Policies
Level Advancement. In order to advance to the next level, students in the beginning, low-intermediate, and high-intermediate levels must earn at least a semester GPA of “B” (3.0).
Completion and Regular Admission. Students who successfully complete the advanced level with at least a “B+” (3.5) average and at least a “B” in each course will automatically matriculate to regular admission. Students may also obtain regular admission by obtaining a score of 500 or better on the institutional TOEFL test that is administered to all students at the end of each semester. In addition, students who independently take and obtain a score of 61 or better on the TOEFL iBT or 5.5 or better on the IELTS test will matriculate to regular admission in the following semester.
