Description

The Cross-Disciplinary Studies MS is a unique degree providing students with a flexibility in creating the direction for their program. The degree requires students to complete two 18-credit graduate certificates in different disciplines plus a one-credit capstone in either discipline for a 37-credit master's degree. The composition of a student's capstone committee is determined by the policy and procedures of the discipline in which the capstone is taken.

Policies

Admission to Cross-Disciplinary Studies is based on successful admission to the two 18-credit graduate certificates which form the primary content for the degree. When one has been admitted to both graduate certificates, admission to the MS is approved upon formal application.

Capstone Course: A 1-credit capstone course is required to complete the degree. The capstone options and composition of a student's capstone committee is determine by the policy and procedures of the discipline in which the capstone is selected.

Limitation: Cross-disciplinary degrees cannot be awarded in cases where a combination of certificates form an existing master's degree. In such cases, prospective students are requested to apply to the master's degree program.
