Business Upper-level Learning Community

Take prerequisite classes required for all five of the majors in the College of Business and have the opportunity to interact with peers studying the same subjects! You will receive academic advising to prepare for admission to the major, develop or advance career goals, and develop skills to help you as you enter the world of business.  Students will engage with activities that will help develop an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed to launch a career in business, they will build a peer network and connect with peers during shared coursework.

Fall Semester Courses

(Enrollment in all learning community sections of courses is required unless college credit is already earned for the course, or an academic advisor recommends changes):

  • ACCT 200: Financial Accounting (3 credits) OR
    • ACCT 210: Managerial Accounting (3 credits)
      • Need to complete ACCT 200 before ACCT 210
  • BLAW 200: Legal Environment of Business (3 credits)
  • BUS 295: Professional Preparation for Business Careers (2 credits)
  • MATH 130: Finite Math & Intro to Calculus (4 credits) (if needed)
  • Register on your own for additional courses to meet your desired credits for the semester.  Suggestions include ECON 202, ECON 207 or other General Education course.

SPRING Semester Courses

(Enrollment in all learning community sections of courses is required unless college credit is already earned for the course, or an academic advisor recommends changes):

  • ACCT 210: Managerial Accounting (if needed) (3 credits)
  • FINA 362: Business Finance (3 credits)
  • MGMT 230: Principles of Management (3 credits)
  • MRKT 210: Principles of Marketing (3 credits)
  • BUS 397: IBE Practicum (3 credits) OR
    • Upper class course in your major in consultation with faculty advisor
