Junior Tinotenda Mupambo (Communication Disorders, '19) was awarded a position with the Summer Professional Speech Pathology/Audiology Assistant Program at Duke University School of Medicine.
Minnesota State Mankato Junior Named Truman Finalist
Junior AbdulRahmane Abdul-Aziz (Political Science and Sociology, '20) was named a Finalist for the Truman Scholarship. Abdul-Aziz is the first Truman Finalist in the history of the Office of University Fellowships at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Minnesota State Mankato First-Year Awarded PPIA Program
First-year Sophia Hoiseth (Political Science & Women and Gender Studies, ‘21) was invited to participate in a Public Policy & International Affairs (PPIA) Public Service Weekend at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
Minnesota State Mankato Junior Awarded Gilman Scholarship
Junior Muna Mohamed (International Relations, '18) was awarded the Gilman Scholarship for Summer 2017. Muna will study abroad in Fes, Morocco through the University of Minnesota.
Minnesota State Mankato Graduate Student Awarded Boren Fellowship
Martin (Marty) Fankhanel has been awarded a Boren Fellowship to study in India during the 2017-18 academic year. Marty is currently a graduate student in Experiential Education at Minnesota State University, Mankato. After participating in the South Asian Flagship Language Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for eight weeks, Marty will study Urdu for four months in Lucknow, India.
Minnesota State Mankato Sophomore Awarded McGowan Summer School
Sophomore Lauren Hesser (Biomedicine, ‘19) was recently awarded a position in the 4th Annual Regenerative Medicine Summer School at the McGowan Institute. Lauren will spend a week participating in lectures, hands-on laboratory activities, and social and networking events.
Minnesota State Mankato Junior Awarded HCCS Student Congress
Junior Mara Soupir (History/Anthropology, ‘18) was recently awarded a position in the Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship Student Congress. Mara will spend a week this June in Lexington, Kentucky deepening her skills of public dialogue and leadership.
Minnesota State Mankato Junior Awarded Amgen Scholar Program
Junior Brooke Jones (Biology '18) was recently awarded a position with the Amgen Scholars Program at Washington University in St. Louis. Brooke will receive a $4000 stipend to support an intensive 10-week laboratory experience.
Minnesota State Mankato Announces Fulbright Finalist for the 2017-2018 Academic Year
Senior Megan Sandberg (Environmental Science '17) has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program English Teaching Assistantship in Ecuador for the 2017-2018 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Minnesota State Mankato Senior Reaches Fulbright Semi-Finals
Senior Megan Sandberg (Environmental Sciences, '17) has been named a semi-finalist in the 2017-2018 Fulbright U.S. Student Program competition. Megan applied for an English Teaching Assistantship in Ecuador.
Minnesota State Mankato Senior Awarded Teaching Residency
Senior Quentina Dunbar (Gender and Women’s Studies, ‘17) was awarded a position in the Relay Graduate School of Education’s Teaching Residency Program. The Residency offers a master’s degree in teaching while working full-time in a public school.
Minnesota State Mankato Senior Awarded Zonta Club Scholarship
Senior Olivia Robinson (Business Management, '17) was selected as a finalist for the Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. Olivia received a $1,000 award from the Zonta Club of Mankato and was a runner-up internationally.

Junior Andrea Vasquez (International Relations, '18) was awarded the Gilman Scholarship for Spring 2017. Andrea will study in Bangalore, India through the University Studies Abroad Consortium.
Representative from The Washington Center to Visit Campus
Students interested in a career in public service should attend this informational session on November 28th from 12-1:30 in Armstrong Hall 123, featuring a representative from The Washington Center. The representative will focus on the Thomas R. Pickering Fellowship, an award available to juniors and seniors and administered by the U.S. Department of State.

Two Minnesota State Mankato Students Named Fulbright Semi-Finalists
Minnesota State senior Kyle Pirron (International Relations & German, '16) and graduate student Elizabeth Horneber (MFA, '16) were named Fulbright Semi-Finalists in the 2015-2016 competition. Pirron applied for an English Teaching Assistantship in Germany. Horneber applied for a Study/Research Award in South Korea.
Minnesota State Mankato Alumna Awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program
Minnesota State alumna Laura Chopp (Biology, '15) was recently awarded The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP). Laura is currently enrolled in the Immuniology Graduate Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Other MSU, Mankato alumni who have recently received the NSF GRFP include Kurtis Malecha (Chemistry, '13) and Darin Weed (Biotechnology, '11).
