International Student Fellowship Opportunities
International students are eligible to apply for the following awards. Please contact the Fellowships Office at fellowships@mnsu.edu to make an appointment, so we can provide clarification and more opportunities.
The National Association of Fellowships Advisors (NAFA) has compiled a list of award programs available to non-US citizens here. Another good resource for opportunities for non-US citizens is Scholars4Dev.
Undocumented students should explore resources from Educators for Fair Consideration (E4FC). Their site includes lists of both undergraduate and graduate scholarships that don't require proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal permanent residency.
American Association for University Women International Fellowships:
- Emphasis: Academic, Research
- Four separate Fellowship or grant options; see document for specific information
- Open to individuals pursuing graduate, postgraduate, and professional programs
American Conservatory Theatre Fellowships:
- Emphasis: Experiential
- Open to candidates with interest in theatrical careers
*James C. Gaither Junior Fellowship Program:

- Open to students within the last year of undergraduate study or within one year of graduation
- Emphasis: Academic, Research, Language, International
- Open to undergraduates

Elie Weisel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest:
- Emphasis: Academic
- Open to Junior and Senior full-time undergraduate students

- Open to students that have earned a Bachelor's Degree
Global Health Corps Fellowship:
- Emphasis: Language, Experiential, International
- Open to applicants under the age of 30 interested in global health care and social justice
John Bayliss Radio Scholarship:
- Emphasis: Academic
- Open to Juniors and Seniors studying Broadcast Communications
Josephine de Karman Fellowship Trust:
- Emphasis: Academic
- Open to doctoral students preparing to defend their dissertation around June 2021
- Emphasis: Academic, Experiential
- Open to students that have or will obtain a Bachelor's degree
- Must apply within five years of obtaining degree
- Emphasis: Experiential
- Open to recent college graduates (undergraduate or graduate level)
New York Theatre Workshop 2050 Fellowship:
- Emphasis: Research, Experiential
- Open to director and playwright candidates for a year-long fellowship
Nieman-Berkman Klein Fellowship in Journalism Innovation:
- Emphasis: Academic, Research, Experiential, International
- Open to candidates that are working journalists or work for a news organization in business technology or leadership capacity
- Emphasis: Research, Experiential
- Open to community-minded rising stars who alter the civic engagement landscape
Pan Am Flight 103 Legacy Award:
- Emphasis: Academic, Research
- Open to students that have a Bachelor's degree and/or will be enrolling into a graduate program
- Emphasis: Experiential, International
- Open to young professionals, graduating seniors, and graduates of U.S. accredited universities
- Emphasis: Experiential, International
- Open to young professionals, graduating seniors, and graduates of U.S. accredited universities holding a bachelor's degree by summer 2020

Samuel Huntington Public Service Award:

Shakespeare Theatre Company Fellowships:
- Emphasis: Experiential
- Open to candidates with an undergraduate degree and/or are in the early stages of their professional careers related theatre
- Emphasis: Research
- Open to applicants at the graduate, pre-doctoral, or postdoctoral level
Thermo Fischer Scientific Antibody Scholarship Program:
- Emphasis: Academic
- Open to undergraduate and graduate level students pursuing a degree in biology, chemistry, bio-chemistry, or related life science fields
