Dr. Olga Nelson is the Assistant Director of the Center for English Language Programs. She teaches ESL classes, performs SEVIS-related duties with the Department of Homeland Security and is engaged in the IEP program administration, international recruitment, enrollment and partnership development.
Olga obtained her B.A. degree in Teaching English and M.A. and Ph.D. in Linguistics from Altai State Pedagogical University (Russia). She has been teaching English for over twenty years and has worked with a variety of learners from different cultural and educational backgrounds. In 2010, her love of teaching brought her to Minnesota State University, Mankato where she spent one academic year in the English department as a Fulbright visiting professor. She continued her work with Minnesota State University international students in the spring of 2014, and has since been enjoying teaching as well as helping students understand immigration regulations, assisting with cultural adaptation and navigation of the Minnesota State University educational system and services available on campus and in the community.
