Short-Term Language Programs
The Center for English Language Programs (CELP) also offers short-term programs to institutions that wish to bring their students to Minnesota State University Mankato for an English language and cultural immersion experience.
Customized Program and Curriculum
The Center will develop a customized program for your students which will allow them to experience American culture in a small, safe community only a short distance from Minneapolis and St. Paul. The program will be designed for your students’ requirements and will emphasize the language, cultural content, and excursions that you believe would be of most interest and benefit to your students. Whether Academic English, General English or Specialized English is needed, the Center for English Language Programs will meet your students’ needs. Students will study English for 20 hours a week with class topics which focus on the students’ interests and academic majors that will help to develop their speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar skills.
Cultural Ambassadors and Social Events
In addition to their classes, the students will also be working in small groups with cultural ambassadors. The cultural ambassadors are Minnesota State University, Mankato students and community members who will meet daily with the students for tutoring sessions where English skills will be practiced through games and activities. The small groups will also serve as a time to examine the culture of the US and the culture of their home country. As a whole cohort and in small groups, multiple excursions will be planned to give the students experiences out in the community such as sporting events, trips to Minneapolis, visits to local museums, plays and concerts, and more.
Housing and Airport Pick-Up
With Minnesota State Mankato organizing housing in university residence halls or with local families, arranging for airport pick-up and return, and focusing on the coordination of cultural and learning activities, you and your students will experience American life and culture at its finest. Come and explore our “Big Ideas, real world thinking” campus and leave the programming to us!
