Contacting Your Academic Advisor Before Your Arrival
Please note:
- You will receive your transfer credit evaluation automatically from the Minnesota State Mankato Registrar within 10-14 business days of your acceptance.
- You will receive the results of the evaluation in the email you used on your application.
- Any official transcripts included in your application will automatically be evaluated. If you have additional coursework that you did not provide documentation for during the admission process, you can submit them upon arrival at the University to complete the transfer process.
- Minnesota State Mankato faculty members and departments make the final decision about whether courses you have taken elsewhere will transfer credits to Minnesota State Mankato.
Step 1: Gather the documents
Gather digital copies of your unofficial transcripts and course syllabi from your current institution. The more detail and information you can provide on past coursework, the better! Compile these documents into one (1) zip file to attach to an email. (Click here for instructions on making a zip file.)
Step 2: Find your academic advisor
Before arriving at the University, your academic advisor will be the Student Relations Coordinator for your program's college. Student Relations Coordinators (SRCs) are expert academic advisors and work closely with faculty in creating study plans for students. You will work with the SRC that is assigned to your program's college (example: Engineering is part of CSET).
Find Your Student Relations Coordinator
Once you arrive at Minnesota State Mankato, you may be reassigned to a faculty advisor.
Step 3: Email your advisor with your documentation
Email is one of the easiest ways to get in touch with the Student Relations Coordinator. This allows them to review your documentation and let you know if they need more information before presenting the documents to the faculty. Please allow 3-7 business days for their response to your request. Often before they can give you any information, they need to review your request with department chairs.
You can copy and paste this email template into the email. Be sure to fill in your specific information where the text is in brackets and bolded.
