Clayton is a Family Medicine Physician at HealthPartners in Apple Valley, MN. In addition to traditional general practice roles ranging from managing chronic disease, immunizations or mental health, he occasionally moonlights in the Urgent Care.
Growing up in rural Belle Plaine, Minnesota Clayton spent his Summers and weekends in the family apple orchards helping with the family business – Jim’s Apple Farm/Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store. This was a driving force that led to studying business and earning a Bachelor’s in Finance in 2010 from MNSU. The academic itch was not yet satisfied with the study of Finance. Clayton continued on to earn a Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Mankato in 2014 followed by an M.D. from St. George’s University and eventual residency specialization in Family Medicine from University of Wisconsin.
During his time in the College of Business Clayton was a Student Ambassador for campus, and a member of the Finance and Marketing clubs. While in the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology Clayton participated in undergraduate research, ultimately leading to two poster presentations. He also served as president of the student Chemistry club and worked as both an Analytical Chemistry T.A. and a campus EMT in the security department.
Though primarily in clinic these days or spending time with his wife and three young children, Clayton still serves a part time advisory role for the family candy operation and often finds himself helping harvest the apple crop each Fall.
Bridging his Finance and medical background, Clayton is currently serving a volunteer position on the Minnesota Medical Association’s Committee on Finance and Audit.
