Orientation is your first step toward getting to know campus, meeting fellow students and preparing for your first year at MSU. Whether you choose the on-campus or virtual option, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to start college strong.

What to Expect at Virtual Orientation:

  • Complete self-paced modules
  • Join live Zoom sessions for advising and course registration.
  • Attend a Virtual Connection Lab to meet other students and ask questions.

Details for your virtual orientation session will be shared via the email you used to apply to the University.

Make sure to register early—spots fill up! Reach out if you have any questions or need help signing up.   

What to Bring

  • Photo ID: Government-issued photo ID is needed to receive your student ID card and to check in to orientation
  • StarID: You will need your StarID and password to register for classes at orientation. Activate your StarID.
  • Transcripts of College Level Coursework: If you’ve completed any college level courses, bringing transcripts will help your academic advisors get you registered.
  • Casual clothes and comfortable walking shoes.
