Concurrent Enrollment for High School Administrators and Counselors

This page is designed specifically for high school administrators—principals, superintendents, teaching and learning staff, curriculum directors, and more. Learn about how to get started with concurrent enrollment in your school.

Starting a Concurrent Enrollment Partnership with Minnesota State Mankato

Partnering with Minnesota State Mankato for concurrent enrollment is a significant step. To ensure a successful, mutually beneficial collaboration, consider these key questions:

Expanding Access:

How will your school increase access to concurrent enrollment, especially for underrepresented groups like first-generation students, students of color, and those eligible for free/reduced lunch?

Course Relevance:

Which colleges do your students most often attend after graduation? Are the proposed courses transferable and aligned with their future goals?

Long-Term Benefits:

Beyond free college credits, how will these courses provide lasting value? We recommend offering transferable general education courses that meet MinnState’s general education requirements.

Strategic Fit:

How do these courses align with your district’s strategic goals? What are your plans for growth and instructor development?

Thoughtful planning ensures concurrent enrollment supports your students’ success after they graduate from high school.

Fees and Cost

The MinnState System uses a fixed pricing structure for concurrent enrollment courses:

  • Flat Course Fee: $3,300 per unique course (per semester, per instructor).
  • Additional Students: $110 per student beyond 30 students.

Examples:

Single Section, Over 30 Students:
Teacher 1 offers PSYC 101 in fall with 32 students.

$3,300 (flat fee) + $220 (for 2 students over 30) = $3,520

Multiple Sections, Different Instructors:
Teacher 1 offers two sections of PSYC 101 in fall, totaling 50 students.

$3,300 (flat fee) + $2.200 (for 20 students over 30) = $5,500

Teacher 2 offers two sections of PSYC 101 in fall, totaling 58 students.

$3,300 (flat fee) + $3,080 (for 28 students over 30) = $6,380

Total for fall Psychology courses = $11,880

Single Section, Under 30 Students:
Teacher 1 offers PSYC 101 in spring with 18 students.

$3,300 (flat fee) = $3,300

Student Application Process

We offer:

  • Automatic Admission for students who meet set criteria.
  • Comprehensive Review for those who don’t meet automatic requirements.
