Concurrent Enrollment Instructors

Welcome to the Concurrent Enrollment Instructor Page! Explore information about qualifications, how to apply and the approval process.

Instructor Credentials

Concurrent enrollment instructors are teaching university curriculum and are held to similar qualifications as university adjunct faculty.*

It’s important to note that academic disciplines in higher education are categorized differently than in K-12 education. For instance, while a social studies instructor in K-12 may teach Psychology, Economics, and History, each of these subjects is considered a separate discipline at the college level.

Minimum Qualifications

Instructors who meet any of the qualifications below will be fully approved to teach.

Master's degree in the discipline(s) being taught, or

Master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate credits in the discipline (s).

Provisional Approval

Instructors who don't meet full approval criteria may receive provisional approval, requiring them to complete graduate credits in the discipline(s) they apply to teach. Campus departments reserve the right to define minimum requirements for provisional approval.

Requires a Master's degree.

Instructors follow a professional development plan, including graduate courses covered by the PSEO Office at Minnesota State Mankato.

Concurrent Enrollment Instructor Credentialing - Post-Approval

Once approved, instructors must complete the credentialing process, which aligns with our adjunct faculty procedures. This step is essential for:

  • Creating your StarID (university ID).
  • Accessing university systems.
  • Viewing class rosters and entering grades.

Provisional instructors needing graduate credits should coordinate with the PSEO Office and College of Graduate Studies to begin. Learn more about our 18-credit graduate programs or review the Instructor Handbook using the link below.
