Transitioning Your Course Online Quick Guide
Option 1: Essential Online
- Develop a communication plan and share with your students
- Create a plan for each module
- Introduction to topic
- Learning Outcomes
- Learning Activities
- Use Content in D2L Brightspace:
- Share your module introduction, outcomes
- Create Activities with D2L like Discussions, Assignments, Quizzes
- Add Activities into Content modules
- Keep your course simple, consistently organized
- Stay in weekly contact with students through feedback, discussions, email
- Use Grades to help students stay up to date on their progress
Option 2: Meeting Online
- Develop a communication plan and share with your students
- Create a plan for each meeting
- Select an online meeting tool, e.g. Zoom
- Preparation tasks
- During the meeting activities
- Follow-up assignments
- Use Content in D2L to organize meetings:
- Share meeting plan
- Provide instructions on how and when to join your Zoom meetings
- Add in Discussions, Assignments, Quizzes as needed
- Keep your course simple, consistently organized
- Stay in weekly contact with students through feedback, discussions, email
- Use Grades in D2L to help students stay up to date on their progress

- Upload a Word doc with the plan for the week
- Upload a Word doc with specific, detailed instructions for each activity
- Keep your course simple, consistently organized
- Stay in weekly contact with students through feedback, discussions, email
- Use Grades in D2L to help students stay up to date on their progress
