Backward Course Design
Tuesday, December 15, 2020
11:00 AM - 11:40 AM
Zoom
As teachers, we tend to approach course design in a “forward” manner, meaning we think about how to teach the content, develop assignments and exams around how we will teach, then attempt to make connections to the course learning goals. In contrast, the backward design has instructors consider the learning goals first. These learning goals tell us the knowledge and skills we want our students to have learned by the time they leave the course. Once the learning goals have been created, then we consider an assessment. This session will guide you through the process and provide tools to support it.
