


Bailey Frerichs’ passion for the business of music helped the Music Industry major earn a $5,000 scholarship from the nonprofit Music Forward Foundation. Only seven students across the country received the scholarships.
Meet Makayla Jackson and Denisha Cartwright. One is from the Bahamas, the other from Wisconsin. Both of them are breaking records as Mavericks. As runners and as students, Jackson and Cartwright inspire each other.
Madeleine Kelly spent her summer at Delta Air Lines’ headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, working as an intern in the company’s risk management division. That internship, part of Delta partnership with the university, has fueled her aspirations for a future in aviation safety.
Nelsie Yang came to Minnesota State Mankato with a fire in her belly to help others. Now she’s doing exactly that as the Ward 6 Councilwoman for the City of St. Paul. Her degree in social work and her social justice activism as a student have helped fuel her passion and made it possible for her to make a difference in the world.
Spencer Kramber came to Minnesota State Mankato determined to beat the odds and become an actor. Thanks to the opportunities he had through the Department of Theatre and Dance as a student, he found success acting in TV shows and movies. Now he also coaches other actors as they audition for parts.
Elle Taylor has been shooting for the sky since she was a kid growing up in Rosemount, Minnesota. Now a sophomore at Minnesota State Mankato, she already has her private pilot license and is on track to become a commercial pilot—and realize her dreams—when she graduates.
