How do I send transcripts?
College transcripts: You will need to contact the institution(s) and request an official transcript. Many schools have an online request form on their website. We can access transcript(s) from any MinnState schools you may have attended, so you don’t need to send those.
High school transcripts: High school transcripts are only necessary if you have fewer than 24 college credits completed since high school graduation. Your high school transcript does not need to be official, but it does need to contain grades 9-12 and your graduation date. If you do not have a copy of your final high school transcript, you will need to contact your high school. If you graduated from high school more than 3 years prior to your application date, you can provide a diploma or other proof of high school graduation instead.
You can have transcripts sent electronically to admissions@mnsu.edu, or they can be mailed directly to the address below:

Do I send my transcripts now or at the end of the semester?
You will need to have all transcripts sent to Minnesota State Mankato before we will process your application. If you are currently enrolled in classes at another institution, we recommend you send an official transcript at the time of application, which will allow us to review your application and make an admission decision. Then, you will need to send another official transcript once you have completed your courses to transfer those remaining credits to Minnesota State Mankato. We can access transcript(s) from any MinnState schools you may have attended, so you don’t need to send those.
Can I exclude transcripts I don’t want to be considered in my application?
You will need to have all transcripts from every college or university you have attended sent directly to Minnesota State Mankato before we will process your application, even if your completed coursework is not relevant to your current academic goals. We can check the National Student Clearinghouse to see where you have enrolled, and we will ask for any missing transcripts before we process your application. Withholding information is considered fraud and could impact your ability to attend the University.
The college/university I attended is now closed, and I can’t get a transcript. What do I do?
If the college/university was in the state of Minnesota, you will need to contact the Minnesota Department of Education – Office of Higher Education at 651-642-0567 ext. 3. If the college/university was outside the state of Minnesota, you will need to contact the equivalent office for that state/country.
I don’t have 24 college credits yet. Do I have to wait to transfer?
If you have fewer than 24 completed college credits, you can still transfer to Minnesota State Mankato. We will need your high school transcript, and your high school academic record will be included when making an admission decision. The 24 completed college credits exclude PSEO and other credits earned in high school.

How will my credits transfer?
In order to have previous college credits evaluated at Minnesota State Mankato, you must first be accepted to the University. Once you’ve been accepted, our Registration and Academic Records Office will evaluate your completed coursework, and you will receive an official report (DARS Report) of how your credits will transfer in your e-Services account.
If you have questions about your DARS report, contact Registration and Academic Records at 507-389-6266.
If you’re not quite ready to apply yet, you can use transferology.com as a great resource to estimate how your credits will transfer.
Once you have either your DARS or at least a Transferology report, you are welcome to connect with the department of the major(s) you’re considering, and an advisor will help you see what your path to graduation might look like.

I earned college credits in high school. Am I considered a transfer student?
Transfer students have attempted or earned college credits after graduating from high school. Students whose only completed credits were taken through PSEO, College in the Schools, or similar programs while still in high school are not considered transfer students.
I applied to Minnesota State Mankato previously and was admitted. Do I have to apply again?
If you were admitted but did not attend: You will need to submit a new application, but you don’t have to pay the $20 application fee again if you paid it the first time.
If you have fewer than 24 completed college-level credits and applied before graduating high school, we will likely need an updated high school transcript showing grades 9-12 and your graduation date.
If you have completed additional college coursework since you last applied, you will also need to submit updated official transcripts.
If you were formerly enrolled at Minnesota State Mankato as a regular student (post-high school): You do not need to apply again, even if you have taken courses elsewhere. Instead, please refer to the Returning Students information and contact the Registration Help Desk at 507-389-2252.
I have already applied and would like to change my start term. How do I do that?
If your original intended start term has not yet begun, email admissions@mnsu.edu with your request, and we will follow up with you.
If your original intended start term has already begun: You will need to submit a new application, but you don’t have to pay the $20 application fee again if you paid it the first time. If you have completed additional coursework, you must also submit new transcripts.
