ABOUT ME:
I am from Senegal, West Africa. I love cooking and trying different recipes. I also enjoy watching old African movies. It gives me a deep sense of belonging to a beautiful culture and broaden my knowledge about African countries and their history. My favorite producer is Ousmane Sembène who is from Senegal.
Something interesting about me is that I speak 3 languages: Wolof, French, and English. I also have a podcast channel.
WHY I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO:
I enjoy the diversity in the student body and faculty at Minnesota State Mankato. I lived in Minneapolis for 2 years and met very few people from West Africa. However, I can walk the hallways on this campus and hear many individuals speak my native language. It is quite comforting and pleasant. It reminds me of my family and friends back home and the reasons why I am here.
IMPACT OF DONORS:
Donors are the glue that holds this University together. Among many other things, maintaining a college and making sure students and faculty have the best working and learning environment is costly. Our University's needs can only be reached if alumni decide to give back to it. My academic journey here exists because of the Maverick Scholarship for international students. I am forever thankful to individuals who made this scholarship possible.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
I was recently designated as the spokesperson for the International Student Association. I am member of the African Student Association and the Muslim Student Association . I am also an active member of the Senegalese Association of Minnesota.
Your investment will undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of knowledge, the empowerment of students, and the betterment of the University.
