NO JOKE! The KMSU Spring Pledge Drive Is Coming!
Ten Day Fundraising features new swag and 24 Hour Marathon
THE 2024 SPRING PLEDGE DRIVE
Wednesday, May 1 - Friday, May 10
Dear Radio Hero,
Usually I'd start this with something about surviving another unbearable Winter, however this one has been anything but typical. Shorts weather in February? What's the deal with that? This time I'll skip right to my primary reason for writing. Friends, the KMSU Spring Pledge Drive kicks off on Wednesday, May 1 and ends on Friday, May 10! It's ten days of KMSU putting the fun in fundraising, and I hope you'll join us.
We do two pledge drives a year, and your donations are the fuel that keeps this station running. Over the last few years your overwhelming kindness and generosity has allowed us to make many essential upgrades that have improved the KMSU experience. One of the biggest is the release of the KMSU app, which allows you to stream 89.7 the Maverick live and listen to our programming on demand whenever and wherever you like. We've also created the Minnesota Music Channel, a 24-hour-a-day radio station devoted entirely to music from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. You can listen to it with the app or on our KMSU HD2 signal for HD enabled radios. All of these improvements have enhanced the KMSU listening experience, and they were all possible with the amazing support of our listeners. Thank you!
Another improvement that we'd like to make is upgrade our Austin, MN transmitter. A new transmitter will enhance the audio quality and add RDS song information to it. This upgrade, which allows song information to display on your radio, was something we were able to put in place in Mankato and the surrounding broadcast area, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Your donations during our Spring Drive will help us take this next step in our overall improvement.
The advancements in the previous paragraphs are on the more glamorous side of KMSU operations, but many of our costs are more mundane, though no less important. Gear breaks down unexpectedly and needs to be replaced, and there are also bills to pay for things like app operating fees and subscriptions that allow us to broadcast all of your favorite syndicated programs. Shows like World Cafe, This American Life, and our overnight Jazz programming all cost money to run, and the price continually goes up. They're essential pieces of our broadcast schedule, and your support helps us make them a part of your day.
Please join us during the KMSU Spring Pledge Drive and help keep this wonderful little radio station thriving. We have some great swag lined up, including a brand new KMSU t-shirt, and lots of special programming like the Shuffle Function 24 Hour Pledge Drive A-Go-Go, which runs from 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 9 to 6:00 p.m. Friday May, 10. Shyboy Tim and Shelley have lined up 24 sleep deprived hours of games, vinyl, and live music to end the drive with gusto and more than a little delirium! Visit kmsu.org for more information and to make your pledge. Thanks!
