The Master of Arts in Literature and Composition is an interdisciplinary program designed for those with an interest in teaching in both areas.

Program Highlights
- The HLC and other accrediting bodies require college-level teachers to have at least 18 credits of graduate study within the discipline, so this degree is ideal for secondary teachers seeking advanced credentials in multiple areas.
- The MA provides students with a foundation in British, American, and World Literature; theoretical, practical, and experiential knowledge about the teaching of writing; and elective coursework in theory and more specialized courses.
Application Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- A minimum of 30 undergraduate credits in the fields of literature, linguistics, and/or writing.
- Personal statement that describes your academic and professional goals.
- 10-20 page research-based, analytical writing sample focusing on a literary topic.
- Two letters of recommendation from individuals qualified to judge your academic potential.

Additional Requirements for International Applicants
The program is offered exclusively online and is not eligible for I-20 issuance.
- Minimum TOEFL iBT score of 80 or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5
- Credential Evaluation prepared by a National Association of Credentials Evaluation Service member.
