Program Highlights

  • You can complete the M.A. entirely online, and most classes are offered in an online, asynchronous format to accommodate any schedule. Only three classes require synchronous meetings, and these can be attended remotely.

  • The program can be completed in two years, or even less if students can take classes and/or engage in research during summers.
  • The M.A. provides an in-depth apprenticeship in the discipline of sociology by combining core courses in research methods and theory with engaging seminars on key topics such as inequality.
  • Students in the program have the opportunity to collaborate with professors on ongoing research projects related to diverse topics. In recent years, numerous program graduates have co-authored peer-reviewed manuscripts with professors and co-presented at state, regional and national conferences.
