On Nov. 12, 1961, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. came to Mankato, Minnesota. While here, he gave two sermons at Centenary United Methodist Church and a speech at Mankato High School (now Mankato West High School). To explore this history, the Kessel Peace Institute of Minnesota State University, Mankato and True Façade pictures collaborated to make a 40-minute documentary.

Join us on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2022, for the online premiere of our documentary film. The film explores the history, context and legacy of Dr. King’s visit to Mankato and reflects on where we have been as a community, and where we need to be heading. A panel discussion featuring individuals from the documentary will follow.
