College Statement on Racial Injustice

June 09, 2020 |

Dear members of the community:

The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Minnesota State University, Mankato joins the many voices across Minnesota and the world that have expressed horror and dismay about the shocking and brutal killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. These deaths are tragic examples of the racial injustice that is pervasive and systemic in our institutions and culture. In painful recognition that words of remorse are meaningless without effective action, the faculty and staff of SBS pledge to redouble our efforts to end racial oppression, teach students to think critically and with historical context about systemic and structural racism, eliminate ongoing racial disparities in higher education, and help build an equitable, socially just society.
