CARES Act COVID-19 Emergency Grant
Information
Minnesota State University, Mankato is dedicated to helping students who are experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The COVID-19 Emergency Grant has been created to help cover new expenses students incurred as a result of the disruption of campus operations, such as:
- food
- housing
- health care
- child care
- travel
- course material and technology
A student can only receive the emergency grant once. The maximum award is $1,000. Documentation/receipt required for requests of $500 or more.
Eligibility
To be eligible, students must meet all the following criteria as of March 6, 2020:
- Enrolled in at least one degree-seeking, semester-based course
- Not enrolled exclusively in online courses or fully online programs
- In good Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standing
- US citizen or eligible noncitizen (hold a valid green card)
- Meet selective service registration requirement, if male
- Not incarcerated
- Not in default of a student loan/overpayment of a federal grant
- Not a Senior Citizen receiving a tuition discount rate
- Not a Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) student
- Not a concurrently enrolled high school student
- Not a University employee receiving a Minnesota tuition waiver for themselves
Application
To apply for the grant, click on the “apply” button. Sign in using StarID@go.minnstate.edu and password (example: ab1234ab@go.minnstate.edu). A Committee will review the emergency grant application. Students will be notified via their Minnesota State University, Mankato email of the decision. Students whose application is approved will receive the emergency grant via direct deposit or paper check depending on the student’s account set up. It is recommended that students review and update their direct deposit and/or mailing address information to prevent delays. We encourage setting up direct deposit for faster delivery of the funds.
