Maverick Food Pantry
The Maverick Food Pantry is a new Minnesota State University, Mankato initiative that will be run by the Division of Diversity & Inclusion in partnership with Student Government and the Kearney Center for International Student Services.
This service will provide perishable and non-perishable food as well as toiletries for students that are in need.
The full pantry will open at the beginning of spring semester in 142 Carkoski Commons.
The Maverick Food Pantry's goal is to work collaboratively with academic departments, community organizations and corporate partners to provide food for students that are in need.
In an effort to serve students during the break between semesters, the Maverick Food Pantry will be distributing food boxes each Monday from 12-2 p.m. in the Multicultural Center, located in Centennial Student Union 269.
Faculty, staff, departments and programs interested in making donations or partnering with the Maverick Food Pantry through service-learning projects are asked to contact Megan Heutmaker, director of American Indian Affairs, by email at foodpantry@mnsu.edu or by phone at 507-389-5230.
The Minnesota State University Faculty Association dropped off a check for $5,000 last week to help fund the Maverick Food Pantry.
