Ms. Deanna Stands, a dual citizen of the Yankton Sioux Tribe and the United States of America. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education with a minor in American Indian Studies from the University of Minnesota, College of Education, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mrs. Stands taught at Marty Indian School and Wagner Community School for thirty-seven years. For the last seven years, she has taught the Beginning and Intermediate Dakota Language classes at the high school level. She is a curriculum member for the Center for American Indian Research and Native Studies organization, Martin, SD and has been involved as a presenter for the Mahkato Wacipi over several years.
