ABOUT THE STRATEGIC DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION PLAN

Minnesota State University Mankato has been a leader in the MinnState system in developing and implementing Diversity & Inclusion plans, campus-wide. Originally, the Inclusivity Workplan was developed as a part of the Minnesota State Charting the Future Initiative. Minnesota State has directed each college and university to develop an “Inclusivity Plan” that will enable campuses to effectively increase diversity for employees and students at all levels of the institution, close the opportunity gap for students, and meet the needs of the institution's economic region.

The President’s Commission on Diversity (representing faculty, staff, students, and administrators) began working on the plan in January of 2016. An initial plan was submitted in June 1, 2016. The campus continued working on the plan during the 2016-2017 academic year. From this a 3-year Strategic Diversity and Inclusion plan was re-drafted and adopted for the period of 2019-2022.

The goal of the Strategic Diversity and Inclusion Plan is to represent the university’s broad range of cultural diversity, acknowledging where the campus excels at inclusivity and where it can improve. To get the most in-depth picture possible, the President’s Commission on Diversity seeks feedback on the plan from all members of the campus community.
