Why did you choose to go into college health?
I chose to work in college health because, as an undergraduate and graduate student at MSU Mankato, I utilized the Student Health Services and received exceptional care. I wanted to do the same for future college students.
What type of visits do you enjoy the best?
I enjoy all visits, from primary care to women’s health to mental health care. If I had to pick my favorite type, it would be any student’s first visit to Student Health Services. I enjoy introducing them to Student Health Services and discovering each person’s unique story, background, and goals.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing students complete their educational goals while receiving care through Student Health Services during their time at MSU Mankato. I am always honored when they come to see me right before graduation, and they feel that I helped them succeed by providing medical and mental health care that positively impacted their academic success.
What’s unique about the care that patients receive at Student Health Services?
The unique care a patient receives at Student Health Services involves so many things, from having quick access to medical and mental health care to an in-house pharmacy and staff who are there to educate, support, and guide students in their healthcare choices. The patient portal allows the student to communicate with their provider on their own time, and the online scheduling offers a convenient scheduling option.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing board games and cards, being outdoors at the lake up north, and spending time with my family.
