Dr. Troy Hanson is a board-certified family physician with unique experience in promoting lifelong mental health and resilience. He has served on the Minnesota State Advisory Council on Mental Health for several years. Dr. Hanson received his Medical Degree in 1996 and his Master of Public Health in 2013 from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. He began his employment at Minnesota State University, Mankato, in 2018 and enjoys the diversity and enthusiasm found in the campus community. He strives to empower people to become the healthiest and best versions of themselves through evidence-informed knowledge, tools, and resources. Dr. Hanson lives in New Prague, MN, and enjoys trail running, hiking, and cheering on Minnesota sports teams!

What’s unique about the care that patients receive at Student Health Services?
The care at SHS is compassionate, whole-person focused, and individualized, often helping with the psychological, social, and physical components of health.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love spending time in nature, taking long walks with my dog, listening to alternative rock music, and reading and reflecting on how to grow, improve, live my best life, and help others do the same.
