Education

I graduated from Edgewood College in Madison, WI in 2024. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in both Data Science and Broadfield Natural Science with a concentration in Physics. Currently, I am pursuing my Master of Science in College Student Affairs.

What I Like About Being an SSC

My favorite part of the SSC position is that my supervisor and Hall Director staff let me be independent and really have a say in how the Crawford front desk operates and what my day looks like. I really appreciate that everyone on my team is receptive to making changes and trying new things around the community. The staff is always there to support me while allowing me to supervise my staff and desk in a way that works best for me.

Favorite SSC Memory/Experience

There are too many good memories to choose. I always love when I get a chance to work behind the desk with my desk assistants. I love getting to know them more and learning about them as a whole human and not just an employee.

Professional Development

My background is in Data Science, so I always love to look at how can I integrate technology into my work. While I am not actively working as a Data Scientist in this role, I try to keep myself up to date on changes in technology, and I'm constantly thinking about ways I can make life easier on myself and my desk assistants.

Position Balance and Academics

This position has been crazy at times. I really appreciate that my team allows me to be flexible with my schedule. It's helpful that I am able to change my schedule to accommodate the needs of the week. Crawford in particular gets exciting around October. We host a haunted house which means I am able to work in the evenings to help set that up, and my team allows me to take some flex time and make sure I am only working 20 hours a week.

My Professional Dream

I hope to one day work as a Dean of Student or Vice-President of Student Affairs. The most important people who work at a college are the boots on the ground staff like a Hall Director or your academic advisor. I hope that I can become a college VP and make sure that I am supporting and making the job easier, so those folks can have more time to dedicate to students.
